Plexr Treatments

Performed by Dr. Catharine Crawford at Prosilience Studio in Arlington, just northwest of Boston.

When we look in the mirror, we sometimes don’t recognize the face looking back at us, wishing we could turn back the clock to get rid of those wrinkles, sagging skin, and blemishes that seem to give away our age. There are numerous methods we can try, and for many people, surgery is something they want to avoid. The good news is that with some advanced technology and innovative treatments on the market, you can find non-invasive and non-surgical options, that can improve skin without surgery. One of our best-kept secrets is a PlexR treatment in Arlington, MA just northwest of Boston, that Dr. Catharine Crawford can utilize to help you achieve the youthful looks you long to see again.

What is Plexr?

PlexR is a handheld device that uses a technique to contract and tighten your skin’s surface. The procedure is a form of soft surgery, which means it does not involve any invasive cutting, but instead, uses this non-invasive hand-held device to improve your skin’s appearance in a safe, non-invasive way.

PlexR is a very precise treatment with minimal downtime and long-lasting results. The device works through the process of “sublimation” (a process of turning a solid into a gas) and the principle of ionization of gases that are contained in the air. These actions produce “plasma”, which is used to contract and tighten your skin’s surface.

The energy that it generates is delivered directly to the superficial skin cells only, without affecting any deeper or surrounding tissues. Unlike traditional surgery, PlexR treatments are performed without cutting, and without removing excess skin or fat. PlexR® technology is globally recognized for Soft Surgery, which offers a safe and effective alternative to invasive cosmetic procedures with little to no downtime.

PlexR Shower

Don’t let the name deceive you, because a Plexr Shower is a breakthrough plasma treatment that helps improve the appearance of your skin using plasma. Plasma is a gas that contains ions and atoms, and is able to treat different areas of the face, remove imperfections, and innovatively improve the skin. This is a non-surgical technique that can eliminate unwanted skin and other aesthetic imperfections.

At Prosilience Studio, we offer the Plexr Shower facial treatment as a 12-week program that focuses on improving the skin by balancing the gut and targeting the root cause of different skin imperfections and concerns. Using a specific PlexR triangle tip, our team can deliver the treatment to provide a large spot size. This incredibly quick and painless treatment can be perofmed on your entire face in just 5 minutes, with zero downtime!

What’s the First Step?

The first step on the road to achieving youthful, vibrant skin is to book a consultation with Dr. Crawford. During the consultation we will discuss every aspect of the treatment with you, so you know what to expect. From the tools being used to the price of the treatment, you will have all the information you need. Dr. Crawford will take the time to look at the areas on your skin and face that you are looking to improve and assess how PlexR will benefit you. If she has any concerns, these will be discussed during your consultation, as Dr. Crawford will never recommend a treatment or procedure that may potentially have adverse effects. This is also your opportunity to learn more about the treatment and ask questions you may have.

What to expect on the day of a PlexR Treatment

On the day of your treatment, when you arrive at our office you will fill out paperwork before being taken into the procedure room, where Dr. Crawford will talk you through the process.

The first step will be to administer a type of anesthetic to numb the treatment areas, minimizing the possibility of discomfort and pain.

Once the anesthetic has been given time to set in, Dr. Crawford will be using the PlexR on your chosen skin areas. Small brown patches will immediately appear where the skin has been treated and in the case of wrinkle treatment, the area will show some immediate contraction. The brown spots are known as carbon crusts, which take around 5-10 days to fall off. They will look burnt and brown before falling off on their own. It’s very important not to rub your eyes or disturb the tiny scabs since they play an important role in healing and tissue regeneration.

After treating the highlighted areas, Dr. Crawford will apply a special cream to apply to your eyelids to reduce itching and promote healing. You’ll also need to avoid direct sun exposure while the area heals.

Your treatment can take up to an hour or as little as 20 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.

PlexR Treatments recovery

Once your treatment is complete, Dr. Crawford and her team will give you all the information you need for a successful and smooth recovery period at home. You must be prepared to take time off work. After treatment, you will be swollen for several days. You will also have black/brown crusting on the treated area which will persist for up to two weeks after treatment. If you received PlexR on your eyelids, it is normal to see some mild swelling and redness for a few days, which will eventually subside on its own.

It is important to avoid being out in the sun and avoid makeup and any other skin products on the treated areas for a few days, allowing time to heal. For 2-3 weeks after getting PlexR, there will be redness, flaking, and itching of the treated area.

Plexr Treatments questions

Are PlexR Treatments Painful?

During the treatment itself, the anesthesia administered will ensure you do not experience discomfort. Following the procedure, it is common to experience symptoms such as redness, swelling, itchiness, and skin flaking. Dr. Crawford will prepare you for what to expect before leaving our practice. She may also recommend pain medication or other remedies that can aid in your recovery if you experience any of these symptoms.

How many appointments will I need?

The number of PlexR sessions you will require depends on the nature and extent of the excess skin, and the size of the area being treated. Typically, you may need between one and three treatments, usually four to six weeks apart. PlexR cannot stop the aging process, so you may consider further treatments in the future. When you discuss your treatment with Dr. Crawford in your consultation, she will give you a clear idea of how many sessions of the PlexR she recommends.

How long until I see results?

You’ll be able to see results with just one PlexR session. While you may notice an initial difference within the first few days, the greatest benefits usually become visible in about three weeks. Every patient’s results can vary, as our skin and bodies can react to treatments quite differently. Talk to Dr. Crawford about what kind of results you can expect to see with the PlexR, and how it can help you achieve astonishing results without going under the knife.

Can I combine PlexR Treatments with other procedures?

There are some options we offer at Prosilience Studio in Arlington, MA that you may be able to combine with a PlexR treatment. Some of the more common treatments our Boston patients combine with PlexR include Lip Filler. When you come in for a consultation, talk to Dr. Crawford about the other procedures you are interested in combining in your appointment, and she will give you more information about whether these are right for you. It is important to disclose any major health issues you are experiencing, as this can impact whether the PlexR or other procedures can be performed on your skin and body.

What are the risks associated with PlexR Treatments?

Due to the fact that PlexR is a non-surgical and non-invasive treatment, it is considered a very low-risk procedure. Some of the associated symptoms you can expect afterward include swelling, redness, itchiness, and flaking skin. By following the post-procedure recovery protocols, you may be able to avoid excessive side effects and ensure your healing stays on track. If you are taking any prescription medications, or have any medical issues it is important to disclose this to Dr. Crawford, so that she can give you the best advice possible, and you can make an informed decision.
